2.1.8 Emergency Duty Team |
AMENDMENTS
This Chapter was amended January 2011 to include reference to a new EDT Protocol.
Contents
1. Operational Details
The operational hours of the service are:
Mondays - Fridays: 17.00 hours to 09.00 hours
Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays 24 hour cover.
2. Eligibility Criteria
The service operates generically covering children's and adult services and statutory priority need referrals for homelessness. The eligibility criteria for the service are broadly the same as that for daytime services with an out of hours service being offered if, in the opinion of the EDSW, the referral is of immediate or urgent necessity that cannot wait until the next working day.
3. Referrals
The EDSW team primarily exists to manage only those referrals which arise out of normal office hours and meet the above referral criteria.
The EDSW team is contacted during the above hours via the council's Emergency Control Switchboard tel. no. 0208-348-3148. A control room officer will record basic information and pass it directly to the on call social worker who will respond as soon as possible.
Referrals need to include full details of name/ DOB/ FWI number/legal status/ the nature of the current concerns/ current whereabouts/and an up to date risk analysis. FWI should be updated to ensure that EDSW are fully informed.
Very occasionally it may be appropriate for the service to respond to a referral that originated earlier in the day.
As these referrals are likely to be of a child protection nature it is extremely important that the New EDT Protocol is followed.
